At Four Element Acres our laying hens are naturally raised outdoors. Our hens have the ability to forage for tasty insects and they enjoy fresh air and sunshine daily. In the colder months they have free access to the outdoors if they choose to venture out unless the extreme temperatures warrant keeping them indoors!
 
Research shows that eggs from hens raised outdoors offer double the amount of vitamin E and long-chain omega-3 fatty acids in comparison to conventionally raised chickens. You will find the yolks from our eggs are harder to "break", are a deep yellow colour and have a beautifully creamy texture.
 
Egg shell colour varies from white to blue/green to brown. Eggs are a mixed colour variety and boxed according to whats available as the ladies lay!

**Please note in the winter months our ladies spend less time outdoors. They are provided outdoor access, if they choose, when the weather is warmer than -10 degrees and NOT snowing. They will forage much less as there is little plant life and no active bugs and insects! They are provided additional supplements such as oyster shell and blackoil sunflower seeds as well as fresh veggies.
